Re-enacts the Motuan people's historic Hiri trading voyages by canoe.
Hiri Moale commemorates the Hiri trade voyages of the Motu people, who sailed lakatoi canoes west along the Gulf of Papua to trade clay pots for sago. Held in Port Moresby around Independence Day, it brings lakatoi under sail into Fairfax Harbour, with canoe races, dancing and the crowning of the Hiri Queen.
